CoMotion is a student-led motion graphics conference at the Savannah College of Art and Design. The title sequence for the eleventh annual CoMotion Student Symposium takes viewers through the journey and the development of an idea, from its early sketch stages up until a finished and harmonized piece.

Being a member of the experiential team, we developed interactive and immersive content by displaying multiple installations throughout multiple venues at the conference that fit in line with the event branding.

Premiering The Sequence

 

A goal from the onset was to incorporate experiential design throughout the entire event experience. The flagship moment of the conference is the unveiling of that particular year’s title sequence. We wanted to make the sequence to leave the 1920x1080 canvas to fill across the theatre.

We created a complementary animation to be played alongside the sequence for the premiere that made it seem as if the visuals were interacting with events happening on screen. Below is a video recording of the unveiling.


The Mixer

 

The main outlet for our experiential efforts to be put on display was the pre-event mixer. Company representatives and students were invited to mingle and enjoy refreshments before the conference formally kicked off. During this event, we created an interactive experience room that included projection mapping, interactive TouchDesigner exhibits, and a VR student showcase.
